A fast growing, fast-paced and dynamic company developing Windows exploration, development and reservoir software for the oil and gas industry, seeks a Vice President for their Global Consulting Services business. You will develop and grow the Company’s existing consulting services and manage the implementation of your strategic plans across the regional offices. Proven experience developing consulting services around scientific software is required and a background in the oil and gas highly advantageous.
The Company was the first in the market to develop geoscience interpretation tools for Windows NT and is now placed as the global leaders of Windows based software for exploration and production. The software is widely used by geoscientists across major to small oil companies in 95 countries.
The Company has an enviable reputation, offices globally (South America, Russia, Middle East, UK, Canada…), a strong petroleum lead management team, excellent operational and support staff, leading edge integrated geoscience technology suite, and most importantly committed finances. As such it is strategically placed for major expansion and you will be a major contributor to the Company’s growth.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the President, International, you will;
• Take ownership for the development of global consulting services.
• Work closely with the regional managers and regional support managers to understand current consulting trends, pricing models, current and available market resources etc.
• Devise strategic plans to develop consulting services globally. These plans will incorporate services such as customer support, onsite support, training and a full range of geoscience related consulting services.
• Devise winning pricing models for the various regions for services.
• Implement your plans within the regions ensuring that you have regional buy-in.
• Develop, monitoring, control and reporting mechanisms to ensure targets are met and objectives are achieved.
• Identify and build strong relationships with the key decision makers of consulting services within major accounts. Understand their consulting needs, tendering process, current suppliers, and their challenges and constraints.
• Work closely with the regional sales/business development personnel, to understand demand and assisting where required in high-level meetings and negotiations.
• Work closely with marketing to build market presence and reputation. Support marketing activities for driving growth (e.g. brochures, case studies, trade shows, advertising, presentation materials, winning proposals…)
• Assist regional support managers to build strong technical teams within their region.
• Promote good quality services – setting benchmarks and monitoring client satisfaction. • Work closely with existing third parties, building strong relationships and identify and nurture relationships with potential value-add service providers.
• Keep abreast of industry trends and challenges.
As a strategic player, you will play the key role in directing and influencing the future growth of consulting services globally. Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
• Degree educated preferred – ideally in an earth science subject.
• Proven experience in managing consulting services relating to scientific software either at country, regional or/and global level essential.
• Minimum of 10 years relevant consulting services work experience essential. Experience of the oil and gas industry highly advantageous.
Previous P&L accountability essential. • Proven experience of tendering for and winning large consultancy contract in any sector essential
• Experience selling to clients at senior and/or board level – ability to define and promote the value proposition essential
• Experience in devising and implementing strategic plans for building a consultancy practice essential.
• Strong interpersonal skills - with the ability to develop good working relationships internally and with partners and clients essential.
• Self motivated entrepreneur with strong interpersonal skills and drive to succeed essential.
• An understanding of oil and gas industry standard software (e.g. Landmark, Schlumberger, SMT Kingdom) advantageous.
• Experience in managing and developing 3rd party partnerships highly advantageous.
• Excellent business intuition and judgment with an open mind to new work practices and business models.
