A large conglomerate with controlling interest in a number of upstream and downstream oil and gas companies worldwide, seeks an E&P Group Business Advisor to provide leadership, direction and guidance to the Group’s E&P activities under direction and in cooperation with the Board of Directors.

The Groups E&P activities consists of assets in Egypt, Yemen and in the US. They are the main operator of all their Egyptian assets, managing the licenses between their joint venture partners and the state oil authority.

The primary responsibility of the E&P Advisor is to safeguard the shareholder’s interest in order to assure short and long-term profitability, planned growth, and maximised market value.

You will liaise closely with the technical and management staff across the E&P operations, understanding their activities related to production operations (e.g. reservoir & petroleum engineering, production, drilling, projects, materials & contracts, budgets and production forecasts) including plans to maximise oil and gas production from their development licenses.

You will build strong working relationships with all senior management of the Groups E&P companies, as well as personnel from the licensing authorities and joint venture companies. You will promote cordial relationships across all these stakeholders, providing leadership and guidance to support the timely and professional delivery of objectives.

You will communicate and report effectively on all matters of interest to the board, ensuring that shareholder value and interest is maintained.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Board of Directors and the Director for the Groups E&P Operations on a daily basis, your role will encompass many functions and responsibilities such as:
-Keeps the Board of Directors informed on financial results of operations, the status of loans, competition and new business developments. In view of new business/ventures, evaluates proposals and submits recommendation to the Board of Directors. Make recommendations to the Board of Directors on a wide range of subjects, including:
  *Director appointments and changes in organisation
  *Annual operating budgets (and revisions if needed)
  *Salary and benefits administration
  *Policies, procedures and guidelines cross the full value chain.
  *Exploration studies, upon request from Board of Directors
-Contribute to action plans prepared by the joint ventures and submits to the Board of Directors for approval.
-Contribute to and oversees the development of the business plan of the E&P business for the achievement of the strategic objectives.
-Monitor the implementation of approved action plans and ensures that the objectives are met.
-Provide a strong project management focus, anticipating potential problems and resolving or escalating as deemed fit.
-Responsible for detailed, accurate and timely reporting to all relevant shareholders.
-Build and maintain strong relationships with shareholders and stakeholders of E&P operations.
-Meet regularly with General Managers, Deputies, Directors, Officers and other key “on site” staff to communicate E&P Group’s culture & values, policies and goals, and to delegate responsibility for daily operations and administration.
-Represent the Group with banks, organizations and relevant authorities.
-Assure that processes, procedures and policies are strictly followed as per the Board of Directors guidelines.
-Provide direct guidance of personnel activities as it relates to salary administration, management incentives and performance objectives to ensure solid team efforts toward the attainment of the Company’s overall goals.
-Provide direction to development and maintenance of standards for operating efficiency with comprehensive, specific and measurable goals.
-Evaluate periodically operations to identify needs and current problems.
-Review operational budges to ensure that they meet the goals and objectives as identified.

This is an exciting and challenging role for an individual with expertise in some aspect of the oil and gas value chain (e.g. exploration, production, facilities) and a strong appreciation of safeguarding shareholder expectation and value. The role offers a great deal of autonomy and scope to succeed and potential career progression in senior level roles across other vertical markets within the Group.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
-Degree level essential – preferably in geoscience, engineering or business.
-Minimum of 15 years in oil/gas exploration or production with expertise in one or more of the following: Drilling; Reservoir Engineering; Reservoir Management; Production Technology; Asset Management Facilities & Project Management essential. Engineering background highly desirable especially in large onshore gas/condensate projects.
-Minimum of 8 years in a managerial position in one or more areas as above essential.
-Previous experience working in Egypt or/and North Africa/ Middle East essential. (Preferably some experience in Egypt).
-Strategic planning experience and focus - time and budget conscious and results orientated essential.
-Financial acumen – ability to interpret budgets essential. Experienced with upstream economics desirable.
-Strong commercial acumen - experience with technical/commercial tenders.
-Strong project management skills – eye for detail, especially to deadlines, and meeting objectives.
-Proven oil and gas finder (generator of quality prospects offshore & onshore) highly advantageous.
-Excellent leadership skills – can drive, lead and influence where needed. Ability to influence multidisciplinary, multi-cultural teams and make prompt and decisive decisions essential.
-Outgoing personality, flexible approach, perceptive.
-Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, ability to adjust to different cultural environments and to gain respect across the various operations etc. essential.
-Driven, self-starter and highly motivated essential.
-Crisis management skills and ability to work under pressure essential.
-Highly diplomatic and trustworthy, with the ability to develop and maintain strong relations with Governmental officials, and personnel at all levels across the group E&P operations and joint ventures essential.
-Verbal and written English language proficiency essential. Working knowledge of Greek or/and French a major asset.
-Excellent computer user.
