Reporting to the APAC Sales & Marketing Manager, the Area Geophysicist is the ambassador of the Company’s technologies in a given country ⁄ region, and the prime contact point of clients to discuss transverse projects and specific geophysical challenges spanning across the Company’s business lines
The Area Geophysicist’s action is both (i) on the short term with a strong “technico-commercial” support to S&M teams in their day to day activities and (ii) on the more medium-long term with the identification of transverse ⁄ fit for purpose and strategic opportunities requiring to assemble various technologies both within and outside the Company’s portfolio. As an integral part of the Business Development network, the Area Geophysicist is a key stakeholder in the development of those initiatives⁄projects.
The Area Geophysicist will work in close cooperation with the Technical Marketing Group, the Business Development Group, the BL S&M managers, the Integrated Geo Services group and when applicable the Technology Centre (for which he will play a driving⁄leading role) to address the following needs:
•Identify key geophysical challenges in the area
•Liaise with the Company’s technology stakeholders, operational and S&M teams to identify⁄assemble the Company’s technologies that could be proposed to address those, and possible external partners when required. Coordinate workshops with clients for instance and take an active part in drafting⁄promoting the associated proposals to clients.
•Foster R&D cooperation with key clients to propose tailored solutions when applicable (liaising with the technology centre and CTO office)
•Promote Company technologies and successes towards clients (cross-BL) and assist BLs in their day to day activities when a “geophysical” oriented approach is deemed necessary ⁄ differentiating to secure contracts
•Take a strong involvement, liaising with the Business Development Group, in cross-BL ⁄ strategic projects
•Strongly promote integrated acquisition-processing offers whenever possible⁄applicable and considered a differentiated factor for the Company
•Liaise with the CTO office to promote ⁄ develop technologies seen differentiating in the area (incl. but not limited to R&D cooperation projects with clients)
•When needed, in conjunction with the Technical Marketing Group, deliver or coordinate presentations to clients on specific subjects (roadshows, clients workshops…)
•Take a leading role in driving activities of the Technology centre when involved in the above mentioned tasks
The Area Geophysicist (AG) is not a pure technical position, but a transverse one. In order to identify viable projects, the AG is required to have a broad experience and understanding of geophysics and the Company technology portfolio but also has to be aware of operational issues that will ultimately impact the feasibility ⁄ applicability of proposed solutions. The AG is not expected to perform those projects on his own but will assemble the different components in order to do so, and supervise the execution.
Qualifications⁄Experience:
The requirement for this role is 10-15 years experience in the geophysical industry (possibly having an oil company background), with a broad knowledge of geophysical services (acquisition & processing).
In addition, the following characteristics are strong assets for the position:
