Norway: Repsol given consent for exploration drilling in Block 9/2 in the North Sea

Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority has given Repsol consent for exploration drilling in Block 9/2 in the North Sea. Well 9/2-12 will be drilled in production licence PL 910. The well will be drilled in the south of the northern sector of the North Sea, around 6 kms east of the Yme field and 100 kms southwest of Egersund in Rogaland and will test a prospect nameed of Kathryn.
The geographical coordinates are: 57° 52' 28.95" N 04° 33' 11.62" E. Water depth at the site is 99 metres.
Drilling is scheduled to start in mid-August and expected to last between 29 and 52 days. The well is to be drilled by the Scarabeo 8 mobile drilling facility.
Scarabeo 8 is a semi-submersible drilling facility of the Moss CS 50 MkII design. It was built at the Fincantieri Shipyard in Palermo, Italy and completed at Westcon’s yard in Ølensvåg in Rogaland county in 2011. Scarabeo 8 received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from the PSA in 2012.
