Finland: Google acquires electricity production from Suomen Hyötytuuli's Alajoki-Peuralinna wind farm under PPA agreement

09 Sep 2026

The shareholders of Suomen Hyötytuuli Oy have signed a long-term Power Purchase Agreement with Google for the electricity produced by the Alajoki-Peuralinna wind farm.

Google today announced its investment plan for Finland, which includes data centers, energy infrastructure, and partnerships in Hamina, Muhos, Vaala, and Kajaani.

Google and the shareholders of Suomen Hyötytuuli signed an agreement in 2024 to increase the production of new clean electricity in Finland. The wind farm, which has been in production since April 2025, contributes to the security of domestic electricity supply. The agreement is managed by Hyötytuuli Services Oy.

'As one of Finland's largest wind power operators, we consider PPAs important in enabling investments in renewable energy. We are interested in entering into new long-term PPAs in the future, so that together with our customers we can help accelerate Finland's transition to clean energy,' says Jaakko Kleemola, CEO of Suomen Hyötytuuli Oy.

The Alajoki-Peuralinna wind farm consists of fourteen power plants with an estimated annual production of approximately 250 gigawatt hours. The wind farm is located in the municipalities of Perho and Kyyjärvi.

Aris Karcianis, Head of Clean Energy and Power EMEA at Google, says: 'Google has been operating in Finland for fifteen years and has worked closely with local energy producers to bring new clean energy to the grid. The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Suomen Hyötytuuli brings our total renewable energy capacity from Finland to 629 megawatts. It demonstrates our commitment to helping Finland transition towards carbon-free electricity generation. As our operations in Finland grow, deploying new clean energy capacity will continue to be a key part of our long-term strategy. It will ensure affordable and clean energy for Finnish operators and our customers.'

Suomen Hyötytuuli and Google continue to collaborate to develop ancillary services that enable greater flexibility for wind farm operations and support the stability and reliability of the electricity grid.
