Mokoan solar park is the first solar park in Australia that European Energy has commissioned. It is located in Victoria State and has a capacity of 58 MW.

European Energy has successfully commissioned its first solar park in Australia. The Mokoan solar park, now connected to the Australian grid, shows evidence of the company’s investment in Australia’s renewable energy sector.

Located in Victoria State, Mokoan solar park has a capacity of 58 MW. Construction of the solar park  began in the first half of 2024. The park will from now on generate approximately 113 GWh of electricity annually—enough to power more than 18,000 Australian households and abate more than 85,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.

'We are thrilled to have completed our first project in Australia just two years after establishing our office in the country,' says Catriona McLeod, VP and Head of Australia at European Energy.

'This is a tremendous achievement for our entire Australian team, and I am proud that we have demonstrated our ability to execute projects like this efficiently and effectively.'

Australia is undergoing a major energy transition, with the Australian government set on delivering an extra 33,000 GWh of electricity from renewable sources from 2020 to 2030, marking a significant shift from its historical reliance on fossil fuels. The country’s vast land area provides ample opportunities for large-scale renewable energy development.

As part of its commitment to sustainable growth, European Energy signed an agreement with First Nations Bailai Gurang Gooreng Gooreng Taribelang Bunda People Development Corporationan in 2024 to facilitate the responsible development of renewable energy projects on their land.

'We see an almost limitless interest in the expansion of renewable energy in Australia. Our development pipeline in Australia has seen a tremendous growth in the few years that we’ve been present in the country making it one of our most promising markets,' says Thorvald Spanggaard, EVP and Head of Project Development at European Energy.

'With a strong team on the ground, we are well-positioned to seize the opportunities ahead and contribute to Australia’s energy transition.'
