Amplitude Energy has provided the following update on Juliet-1 well drilling operations.
Juliet-1 is an exploration well in the Offshore Otway Basin, Victoria, located in permit VIC/L24 within Commonwealth waters, adjacent to the existing Casino, Henry, Netherby (CHN) pipeline. Amplitude Energy is operator and 50% interest holder in VIC/L24 with O.G. Energy holding the remaining 50% interest.
The Juliet-1 8 ½-inch hole section penetrated the primary Waarre C reservoir target and reached a Total Depth (TD) of 2,299 metres TVDSS1 at approximately 22:20 AEST on 7 September 2026, safely and without material incidents.
Preliminary drilling and logging data recorded elevated gas readings in the Waarre C reservoir (intersected at 2,129 metres TVDSS). These gas peaks coincide with elevated resistivity readings observed on Logging While Drilling (LWD) tools, consistent with probable hydrocarbon presence.
The Waarre C sandstone exhibits a gross gas-bearing interval of at least 60 metres, which includes 49 metres of interpreted high-quality net pay in line with other Waarre C reservoirs in offset fields. The gas water contact is currently interpreted as being below TD. Results to date are in-line with pre-drill expectations of reservoir quality and thickness.
The Juliet-1 well programme is currently ahead of schedule and budget.
Forward plan
Wireline logging operations to collect pressure and sample data required to inform resource volume estimates and to determine initial gas composition will be conducted in coming days.
Following that a decision to complete Juliet-1 will be made, followed by a clean-up of the well before it is suspended. Information from the clean-up will inform reservoir deliverability and further laboratory analysis will be undertaken to confirm gas composition. These activities are expected to be completed over approximately the next two weeks.
