Perth Basin energy company Norwest Energy has advised that the 385 km2 Rococo 3D seismic acquisition program has now been completed, with demobilisation of crew and equipment currently in progress.
Ensign Rig 970 has mobilised to the Lockyer-2 well location and joint venture operator Energy Resources has advised that spudding of Lockyer-2 is expected to occur within the next week, subject to completion of maintenance and rig-up.
Lockyer-2 has a planned total depth (TD) of 4,451m TVDSS and the time required to reach TD is estimated at 35 days from spud.
Background
Norwest Energy 20% (EP368) and 22.22% (EP426) – held via wholly owned subsidiary (Westranch Holdings Pty Ltd)
Energy Resources Ltd 80% (EP368) and 77.78% (EP426) – Operator, a division of Mineral Resources Ltd
Exploration permits EP368 and EP426 encompass an area of some 1,725 km2 within the highly prospective 'sweet spot' of the northern Perth Basin. The permits’ prospectivity has been greatly enhanced by the very significant Permian gas discoveries at Waitsia, West Erregulla and Beharra Springs Deep. In September 2021 the EP368 Joint Venture drilled the Lockyer Deep-1 gas discovery well, resulting in a very significant conventional gas discovery that flowed up to 117 mmscfd on test.
The 385km2 Rococo survey is designed to provide a high resolution and high quality subsurface view of the greater Lockyer structure, providing valuable insight into the detailed subsurface form of the Lockyer gas discovery to guide late-stage appraisal drilling, reserves definition, reservoir modelling and development planning.
