Norsk Solar, an Independent Power Producer (IPP), has announced the opening of its Origo I project, with the inaugural 5 photovoltaic plants now producing 15.80 MWp, in the municipalities of Uberlandia and Sao Gotardo (MG), marking a significant milestone in the company`s commitment to a greener future. The total project is 18 MW and the last of the sites will come on stream later this fall.

This landmark achievement not only demonstrates the company's dedication to clean energy initiatives but also underscores its unwavering focus on environmental and social impact. A $ 23 million strategic investment shows Norsk Solar's willingness for long-term development in Brazil, a country that is seeking to expand its renewable footprint in innovative technological areas and already counting for almost 7% of the planet's renewable energy production. An exceptional collaboration with their off-taker, Origo Energia, exemplifies the company`s dedication to fostering strong relationships that drive mutual growth and sustainability. The cooperation with Nordic Impact Cooperation (NIC) and Valora Invest on the financing has been crucial and we are grateful for the unwavering support.

The newly inaugurated photovoltaic plants showcase Norsk Solar`s dedication to harnessing the power of the sun for a cleaner, more sustainable energy future. By embracing solar energy, the company takes a proactive role in reducing carbon footprints and mitigating the effects of climate change, thus contributing to a healthier planet for future generations. The unparalleled cooperation between Norsk Solar and Origo Energia reflects a shared vision for a cleaner, more sustainable energy landscape.

One of the key highlights of this collaboration is the alignment of values and goals between Norsk Solar and Origo Energia. Both entities recognize the pressing need to transition to renewable energy sources and reduce carbon footprints. This partnership serves as a testament to their joint dedication to combatting climate change and contributing to a greener world while securing clean energy to thousands of local households and small business.

'Norsk Solar has successfully navigated the complexities of the renewable energy market. Their efforts have resulted in seamless energy procurement and resource optimization, and we are now looking forward to streamlined operations. The project has generated numerous employment opportunities within the local community, reinforcing our dedication to being a catalyst for economic growth in the region' says Suraya Mendonca, CEO of Origo Energia.

'This achievement is the first step for Norsk Solar to carry out the business plan in Brazil. The team has done a magnificent job in bringing the construction to the final stage. I would like to reach out to all parties involved and congratulate them on this achievement. This is the first project out of a fast-growing project pipeline in Brazil', says Torbjørn Elliot Kirkeby–Garstad, CEO of Norsk Solar.

'The Brazilian corporate and industrial market for solar is in rapid growth and we see great potential for our value proposition. We further see that we are establishing a strong brand and securing a good market entry position with these first projects in Brazil. Our ambition is to grow substantially as a solar power producer for C&I clients in the Country over the next years', says Mauro Benedetti, Country Manager for Brazil in Norsk Solar.

Through this partnership, the companies continue to demonstrate their commitment and are already maturing the start of the second and third construction phase that will bring new plants into operation.
