Petrobras has identified another oil-bearing interval in the Morpho well, marking the third discovery in block FZA-M-59 , located in ultra-deep waters off the coast of the state of Amapá, in a water depth of 2,886 meters.
The continued evaluation of other intervals of interest, following the findings announced in August and early October 2026, allowed for the confirmation of this new discovery.
'Our technical persistence allowed us to make three discoveries in the same well, which makes us even more optimistic about the exploratory potential of the Equatorial Margin. This is the hallmark of our work: dedication and focus on results. The excellent operational results of the third quarter, released this Wednesday, are another example of the quality of our deliverables,' said Petrobras President Magda Chambriard.
Drilling and geological data acquisition have been completed. Now, only the finalization of operations at the well (abandonment) will be carried out, and the rig will continue to the Potiguar Basin, off the coast of Rio Grande do Norte, where it will begin drilling at the Mãe de Ouro location.
Petrobras' activity in the FZA-M-59 block is aligned with the company's long-term strategy, aimed at replenishing oil and gas reserves through the exploration of new frontiers , contributing to meeting the country's energy demand.
