Vaca Muerta gas was transported via pipeline from Argentina to Bolivia and then to Brazil
Petrobras and Pluspetrol carried out the first import of unconventional natural gas from Vaca Muerta , produced in the Neuquén Basin, Argentina. The operation took place October 3rd, under the agreement between the companies and their subsidiaries (Petrobras Operaciones SA - POSA and Gas Bridge Comercializadora).
100,000 cubic meters of natural gas, produced by POSA and Pluspetrol, were imported to test the commercial and operational framework of the operation. The gas was transported via pipelines from Argentina to Bolivia and from there to Brazil. Under the agreement, Petrobras can import up to 2.0 million cubic meters of natural gas per day on an interruptible basis. Further import operations will occur as the companies identify commercial opportunities.
'This first operation is a significant milestone for Petrobras, made possible by the integration of infrastructure and enabling the connection of Petrobras' own production in Argentina, through its subsidiary POSA, with the domestic market. This logistical and commercial solution opens up a new possibility for natural gas imports into Brazil, reflecting Petrobras' commitment to increasing supply and the sustainable development of the natural gas market,' said Angélica Laureano, Petrobras' Director of Energy Transition and Sustainability.
