- The P-82 will be the tenth unit in the field and is expected to become operational in 2027.

The P-82 platform left the Tuas Boulevard Yard shipyard in Singapore this Sunday (October 18th), heading towards the Búzios field in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin , the largest field in Brazil in terms of reserves and production. The P-82 is part of a set of six giant Petrobras platforms, with a nominal capacity to produce 225,000 bdp and compress 12 million cubic meters of gas, among the largest in the world industry.
This unit is the second to arrive at the Búzios field in less than a month and is expected to begin operations next year. Like the P-80, which began its journey to Brazil on September 30th , this unit is 345.3 meters long, 60 meters wide, and weighs over 100,000 tons. The other platforms in the 80 series, P-83, P-84, and P-85, are destined for the Búzios, Atapu, and Sépia fields, all in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin.
'Even with worldwide recognition for developing and delivering large-scale platforms to operate in Brazilian deep waters, Petrobras is always attentive to improvements. This includes ongoing dialogue with shipyards and various suppliers, and the incorporation of lessons learned and innovations,' highlights Renata Baruzzi, Director of Engineering, Technology and Innovation at Petrobras.

What are the advantages?
The 80 series has the highest production capacity among Petrobras' own platforms. These new units incorporate lessons learned from previous constructions and all feature advanced technologies and digital solutions that ensure greater operational and energy efficiency.
Why mass produce?
Building platforms in series reduces costs and increases productivity in shipyards, in addition to generating greater system reliability, reducing project risk, and accelerating field development. Another strategy being used is bringing the platform with the crew on board directly to the location, which contributes to the operational readiness of the systems.
Part of the P-82's process modules were manufactured in Brazil, at the Seatrium Aracruz shipyard in Espírito Santo, which contributed to workforce qualification, job and income generation, and the development of the shipbuilding industry in the country. Modules were also constructed in Singapore and China, and subsequently transported to the shipyard in Singapore for completion of the works.
How was the hiring process?
The construction of the platforms was contracted by Petrobras under the EPC ( Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning ) model, in which the contractor is responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the unit until its delivery for operation in Brazil.
Petrobras' planned investments for the period 2026-30 total US$109 billion, of which 75% are earmarked for Exploration & Production activities.
The Búzios field is operated by Petrobras, in partnership with CNOOC, CNPC, and Pré-Sal Petróleo SA (PPSA). It is projected to have 11 platforms operating by the end of 2027.
