Shearwater is making fast strides in Brazil’s Foz do Amazonas Basin, sharpening regional understanding through a focused subsurface collaboration with Eliis.

Building on our recently completed, industry-backed reprocessing project - delivering over 7,000 sq km of high-quality reprocessed data - this next phase brings in cutting-edge interpretation workflows using Eliis’ PaleoScan™ software, providing a highly detailed and connected view of the basin’s geological architecture in a short turn-around time.

Eliis is a global leader in seismic interpretation software. Its flagship platform, PaleoScan™, is used by leading energy operators, national energy companies, and academic institutions worldwide to accelerate and automate subsurface understanding and decision-making.

This collaboration blends Shearwater’s high quality seismic data with Eliis’ advanced stratigraphic modelling to unlock fresh insights into sediment pathways, reservoir development, and trap integrity across this underexplored frontier.

Already, the work is driving significant geological maturity in key parts of the basin - critical for guiding exploration decisions for energy companies.

And it’s not just about insight. This work directly supports Shearwater’s ongoing survey modelling for a potential 3D seismic acquisition programme, set to kick off in Q1 2026 within our permitted area.

By maturing the region ahead of new data acquisition, we’re pinpointing key target intervals - helping our clients de-risk future investments and fast-track prospectivity evaluation.

'With industry interest rising across Brazil’s Equatorial Margin, our integrated approach in Foz do Amazonas puts Shearwater and our partners right at the forefront of unlocking the basin’s exploration potential,' said Sindre Bull-Jansen, Lead Geoscientist, Multiclient Project Development at Shearwater.
