Petrobras, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Petrobras Netherlands BV (PNBV), the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire and PETROCI Holding, have signed Production Sharing Agreements (PSCs) for eight offshore exploration blocks located in the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire.
The signing ceremony took place today in Abidjan, the economic capital and seat of government of Ivory Coast, and was attended by Petrobras' Executive Director of Exploration and Production, Sylvia Anjos.
The PSCs cover the offshore blocks CI-513, CI-600, CI-601, CI-602, CI-603, CI-605, CI-701 and CI-702. Petrobras, through PNBV, will hold a 90% stake in the blocks as operator , while the local state-owned company, PETROCI Holding, will hold the remaining 10% stake.
'With this acquisition, Petrobras assumes a significant presence in Ivory Coast, a country located in a region of high exploratory potential, with geological characteristics similar to those of our sedimentary basins. We will apply our experience and technical capacity to these blocks and we are confident that, with them, we will be able to uncover all the possibilities that we believe exist on the African Atlantic margin,' said the president of Petrobras, Magda Chambriard .
This initiative is aligned with Petrobras' strategy of replenishing oil and gas reserves through the exploration of new frontiers, both in Brazil and abroad, as foreseen in its Business Plan. The evaluation of new opportunities seeks to diversify the company's exploration portfolio , promoting value creation and the long-term sustainability of its businesses.
