AF Gruppen has, through its subsidiary AF Offshore Decom and in a consortium with Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC), been awarded a contract for the engineering, preparation, removal & disposal (EPRD) of a North Sea platform on the UK Continental Shelf.
The facility features a steel structure, with the topsides weighing approximately 27,500 tonnes and the supporting structure around 12,000 tonnes, with an option to also include a selection of conductors. The offshore platform surveys will commence immediately, followed by detailed engineering and offshore preparatory works to be performed within the next three years.
The platform will be removed in a multiyear removal campaign by HMC’s vessels and transported to AF Environmental Base Vats for onshore dismantling, recycling & disposal within the next 5 years.
'This contract is a testament to the strength of the consortium and our significant North Sea track record delivering safe and efficient EPRD solutions for large and complex North Sea installations. We look forward to beginning this important work, both offshore and onshore, which is rooted in our core capabilities, with our consortium partner HMC and in close cooperation with our client', says Lars Myhre Hjelmeset, EVP Offshore at AF Gruppen.
