Getech and Jordkraft to combine subsurface intelligence with next generation geothermal technology

11 Mar 2026

Getech, a world-leading locator of subsurface resources, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding ('MoU') with Jordkraft Energy AB, a Swedish geothermal technology company focused on modular, small-scale geothermal power plants.

The strategic agreement combines Getech’s global subsurface data and geoenergy expertise with Jordkraft’s geothermal and geoelectrical technology. Together, the companies will explore opportunities to identify, develop and pursue geothermal business and sales initiatives, including:

  • Geothermal site screening and feasibility studies
  • Support for pilot and development projects
  • Collaboration on commercial tenders
  • Joint funding applications

A key objective of the collaboration is to accelerate Jordkraft’s geothermal technology through pilot and research plants, supporting its progression towards full commercial readiness, while providing Getech access to material project revenue opportunities.

Chris Jepps, Getech CEO, commented:

'This MoU brings together both companies’ strongly complementary capabilities in geothermal project development. Getech’s subsurface data, interpretation and screening capabilities and Jordkraft’s drilling technology focus create a compelling combination for identifying and progressing geothermal opportunities. As demand for local, low-carbon baseload power increases, for example from data and AI centres, geothermal is attracting renewed global attention.'

Johan Asplund, Jordkraft Founder and CTO, added:

'Getech is a highly complementary partner for Jordkraft. Its long-established geoscience expertise, geophysical data and subsurface interpretation capabilities can strengthen how we assess and prioritise geothermal opportunities. This MoU provides a framework for us to collaborate on business development and project initiatives as we continue to mature our technology and scale our geothermal offering.'

Background

Geothermal energy is gaining momentum as a source of low-carbon, dispatchable power, heat and cooling. Advances in drilling, subsurface analytics and digital workflows are improving the commercial viability of this potentially ubiquitous low-carbon energy resource. Rising demand for reliable power, including from energy-intensive digital infrastructure such as AI and data centres, is also increasing interest in geothermal solutions.

Against this backdrop, Getech believes that integrated subsurface screening and characterisation will play an increasingly important role in reducing early-stage project risk and accelerating geothermal project development.

Through this collaboration, Getech and Jordkraft aim to support the progression of geothermal opportunities from screening through feasibility and development planning.
