M/V Ross Eagle emerges as a solution to a major energy industry bottleneck – the scarcity of special-purpose vessels. The debut of Ross Eagle marks a significant turning point, positioning us as a premier partner for comprehensive survey management, well abandonment, and decommissioning projects.

The demand for seabed mapping services and geotechnical data collection has surged, driven by the proliferation of offshore wind projects. This growing demand has often led to delays and unpredictability due to the lack of specialised vessels.

'With M/V Ross Eagle in our service portfolio, we can deliver end-to-end solutions, from initial desktop surveys to the execution of the most complex geophysical and geotechnical offshore operations,' says Jarle Vespestad, VP Marine & Survey Management at AGR. 'The vessel elevates our position in the market, offering customers unparalleled expertise, efficiency, and predictability.'

Increased demand for seabed mapping

Ross Eagle is equipped to provide robust technical solutions for both survey and plug and abandon operations. With a moonpool under a 100mT A-frame and two sets of winch systems, the ship is well-rigged for a wide range of missions.

In partnership with Enviros and Baker Hughes, the vessel can be tailored with an array of scope-specific operational equipment. Its accommodation module with 38 beds allows for crew-intensive operations over extended periods. From supply duties to offshore wind, Ross Eagle is versatile and ready for various project types.

From supply duties to offshore wind

Since its 2024 introduction, Ross Eagle has garnered significant interest and praise from the industry. The ship and crew have already gained valuable experience through various projects – delivering site survey for Norway’s first commercial offshore floating wind farm.

'This vessel is a testament to versatility – ready to meet the industry challenges of today and tomorrow,' concludes Vespestad.
