The National Offshore Petroleum Titles Administrator (NOPTA), which administers titles and data management for petroleum and greenhouse gas (GHG) titles in Australian Commonwealth waters, has joined the Data as a National Resource (DANR) hub. DANR, launched in Spring 2022, is powered by the PPDM Association, and aims to be the go-to knowledge hub for regulators, National Oil Companies (NOC), National Data Repositories and technology and service providers. The hub serves to bring these organisations together, to collaborate, share experiences, provide training and access freely available resources. In particular, the hub seeks to support emerging economies in leveraging successes in other areas and seeking inward investment through licensing rounds for oil and gas, renewable energy and carbon capture, utilisation, and sequestration.
Joining the Petroleum Agency of South Africa, SKK Migas, and the North Sea Transition Authority as early adopters and supporters of the DANR initiative, NOPTA has already begun contributing improvements and opportunities to grow the DANR community. Mark Ducksbury, Manager, Data Management Team at NOPTA, noted the importance of programs like DANR for bringing jurisdictions together to collaborate and learn, adding value to the overall ecosystem, 'NDR’s world-wide face similar challenges; with decommissioning, energy transition and diversification and new technologies at the forefront. It’s really useful to talk to international peers to identify best-practice in addressing these challenges. To become a key tool in bringing the jurisdictions together, DANR relies upon the sharing of experiences and ideas. NOPTA is committed to this process.'
Trudy Curtis, CEO of the PPDM Association, is excited that NOPTA has joined DANR as it continues to grow, 'It’s a real pleasure to welcome the National Offshore Petroleum Titles Administrator to the Data as a National Resource program. NOPTA’s deep experience and open approach will benefit everyone in the community.'
DANR is accessed through subscription, at minimal cost for NOCs, Regulators and NDRs. Sponsorship is invited from service providers, and a range of sponsorship opportunities are available. For more information visit www.danrhub.org.
