European Energy has completed the divestment of Cerano Energreen, a fully permitted 90 MW solar project in Brindisi, Puglia, Italy. The transaction closed on 6 August 2026 and reflects continued investor demand for de-risked renewable energy assets with secured revenue frameworks in Italy.

Cerano Energreen has obtained all permits required for construction and grid connection and benefits from a 20-year Contract for Difference awarded under Italy’s FerX auction scheme. Together with the project’s secured grid access and tracker technology, these characteristics provide a strong foundation for long-term asset performance.

Once operational, the park is expected to generate approximately 160,000 MWh of electricity per year – sufficient to meet the annual consumption of around 55,000 Italian households.

The park is located adjacent to an existing industrial zone in Brindisi – a province historically defined by large-scale fossil-fuel generation. European Energy developed the project on already-industrialised land, limiting new land consumption and placing the project at the centre of Brindisi’s ongoing transition from fossil-fuel generation to renewable energy.

The transaction forms part of European Energy’s strategy of developing, maturing and divesting renewable energy assets while recycling capital into new projects across its international pipeline.

'Cerano Energreen combines the qualities investors increasingly look for in today’s market: a fully permitted project, secured revenue under the FerX scheme and a location at the heart of Southern Italy’s energy transition,' says Filippo Ricci, Country Manager Italy at European Energy. “The strong level of interest confirms the attractiveness of well-developed renewable energy projects in Italy.”

'European Energy’s strategy is to create high-quality renewable energy assets that are attractive to long-term infrastructure investors,' says Jens Peter Zink, Deputy CEO of European Energy. 'Cerano Energreen demonstrates the value created through disciplined project development - from permitting and grid access to revenue security. Transactions like this allow us to recycle capital efficiently while continuing to expand our development portfolio across Europe.'

The transaction further strengthens European Energy’s active development portfolio in Italy, where the company is currently constructing the 250 MW Vizzini agrivoltaic project in Sicily, one of the country’s largest agri-pv developments.
