RWE Renewables Italia – A strong presence in the Italian renewable energy market

RWE is a major player in the Italian renewables market. The company pursues an integrated project approach that includes the development, construction and operation as well as marketing of wind farms and solar plants. In Italy, RWE operates 17 onshore wind farms and one solar plant, with a total installed capacity of 589 MW, enough to supply more than 500,000 Italian households. The company is currently constructing the 9.8 MWac Morcone and 9.3 MWac Acquafredda advanced Agri-PV plants, both located in the Campania region. In March, two RWE wind farms were awarded contracts in the FER1 auction: the 45 MW Venusia wind farm in the Basilicata region and the 48 MW Serra Palino wind farm in the Apulia region. Construction of both new wind farms is expected to start shortly.
