Zelestra, a global, multi-technology and customer-focused renewable energy company, participated in Italy’s FER X auction with eight projects and successfully secured the entire pipeline, adding approximately 60 MW of new solar capacity.

The Italian energy agency Gestore dei Servizi Energetici (GSE) announced the successful bidders on 1 December 2025, confirming that Zelestra obtained contracts for 100% of the projects submitted, 80% of which are located in Northern Italy. This result reinforces Zelestra’s strategic footprint in one of the country’s most dynamic and industrially relevant regions.

The company is aiming for all eight new solar plants to be fully operational by the end of H1 2028.

Italy is a key growth market for Zelestra, where the company has a pipeline of more than 1.4 GW of BESS and solar projects. Recently, the company announced the initial offtake agreement for a large-scale 2 GWh BESS project to be located in the north of Italy.

Eliano Russo, Zelestra’s Country Manager in Italy, said: 'It has been a year of fast progress in Italy for Zelestra, and the FER X success means we are also finishing 2025 on a high. The new projects build on the two solar plants we are already constructing in Puglia and Sicily, broadens our geographical footprint into the Peninsula, and complements our multi-technology approach, with a major 2 GWh BESS project in the north of Italy also progressing well. We are aiming to progress quickly into the construction of the new projects, to ensure the new clean energy capacity is delivered swiftly.'

The competitive FER X program attracted a total of 818 applications, representing 10 GW of photovoltaic projects.
