Ocergy has been selected by Kyuden Mirai Energy Corporation as the floater provider for an offshore wind observation project being implemented under Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) program.

We are grateful to NEDO for sponsoring Kyuden Mirai Energy Corporation, Kobe University, Rera Tech Inc., and Cosmo Eco Power Co., Ltd.in this important initiative to establish high-precision offshore wind observation methods.

(Press Release in Japanese).

Ocergy’s OCG-data™ floating platform was evaluated by Kyuden Mirai as meeting their stringent specifications for ultra-low motion performance—requirements previously considered impossible to achieve for floating LiDAR platforms. The OCG-data™ will enable Doppler LiDAR observations with land-equivalent accuracy in offshore conditions, a critical breakthrough for accurate wind resource assessment.

This contract follows the successful deployment of our French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME) supported BLUE ORACLE demonstration (https://www.ocergy.com/ocg-data-pilot-receives-permits-2), which now has over two years of continuous operational experience. We were delighted to welcome representatives from Kyuden Mirai and their project partners visit the BLUE ORACLE pilot recently to learn about our operational track record and proven buoy performance.

The three-year project (2025-2027) will demonstrate the Ocergy’s technology at the Mutsu-Ogawara Offshore Wind Observation Test Site in Aomori Prefecture. The innovative system combines the low-motion OCG-Data™ with motion reduction devices to achieve the high-precision wind measurements essential for floating offshore wind development. Ocergy will ensure the design of the OCG-data™ platform meets all of Kyuden Mirai’s required specifications.

' We are honored to have been selected by Kyuden Mirai Energy for this important project that contributes to Japan’s ambitious offshore wind goals,' said Dominique Roddier, Ocergy’s CEO. 'With Japan’s vast EEZ representing significant potential for floating offshore wind, accurate and cost-effective wind resource assessment is essential for floating offshore wind development in Japan.'

The project directly supports Japan’s 7th Basic Energy Plan, which positions offshore wind as a key component of the nation’s renewable energy strategy.
