JOGMEC and PETROS will collaborate on oil and gas exploration activities under this joint study which will involve the acquisition of seismic data and other geological assessments over a period of approx. three years. The agreement was signed following discussions between JOGMEC and PETROS to establish a joint study framework, marking a step forward in Sarawak’s energy sector.
The target area for this joint study lies within Mukah-Balingian region considered to have potential for oil and gas accumulation. JOGMEC will encourage Japanese companies to participate in Malaysia’s upstream oil and gas business contributing to the continued development of the industry.
JOGMEC is continuously seeking hydrocarbon potential and new business opportunities for Japanese companies through this kind of geological and geophysical surveys abroad in order to secure the stable supply of energy to Japan.
