New Zealand’s government has removed the ban on offshore exploration that has been in place since 2018. PGS has regional coverage and high-grade GeoStreamer 3D ready for evaluation.
The Taranaki Basin is the only producing petroleum basin in New Zealand. PGS completed a contiguous regional 3D data product in 2016, complemented by high-quality GeoStreamer 3D datasets for broadband insights with Taranaki South (2016) and Taranaki West (2017).
'Natural gas is critical to keeping our lights on and our economy running, especially during peak electricity demand and when generation dips because of more intermittent sources like wind, solar and hydro,' revealed New Zealand’s Resources Minister as he announced plans for renewed exploration efforts.
