The Minister of Petroleum and Energy Terje Aasland participated in the official inauguration ceremony of the Tommeliten A field at the Ekofisk Complex today. All the visitors were given a tour of Ekofisk. Representatives from partner companies, contractors, the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, as well as local authorities took part in the celebration.

'It is great celebrating that the Tommeliten A field is in operation, delivering gas to Europe. Earlier production start-up is the result of good and efficient cooperation with our partners, contractors and the authorities,' said Steinar Våge, ConocoPhillips’ President for Europe, Middle East and North Africa.

The total capital investment for the project was approx. NOK 13 billion, enabling about 5,000 jobs during the project period. Most of the contracts were awarded to Norwegian businesses.
