
Shearwater is applying its proprietary single sensor multicomponent Isometrix streamer technology in a new way this summer, using it to deliver two 3D site characterisation surveys on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
The projects, covering approx. 96 sq km and 60 sq km respectively and being acquired in August, use the Isometrix system with newly enabled site characterisation functionality to deliver high-quality 3D High-Resolution and 3D Ultra-High-Resolution seismic data in one pass from the same streamer spread. The seismic data will be delivered together with industry standard analogue data products and reporting.
The surveys, intended for geohazard identification and well planning, build on Shearwater's established expertise in high-resolution marine geophysical acquisition while applying the company's proprietary single sensor multicomponent Isometrix technology to site characterisation requirements. Our solution combines deeper-towed large streamer spreads with a robust acquisition platform improving weather resilience and operational efficiency. This leap in efficiency allows for larger, more regional surveys to be acquired providing operators with greater flexibility than in traditionally sized site characterization surveys when evaluating well locations, trajectories and future development options.
