Suncor to divest non-core offshore assets and increase shareholder returns
Suncor Energy has entered into a definitive agreement to sell its 48% interest in Terra Nova, 40% interest in White Rose and 38.6% interest in West White Rose offshore assets to Ithaca Energy for $1.2 billion (US$860 million) of upfront cash and an additional contingent payment of up to $350 million (US$250 million), based on future oil prices. -

Cameroon: Tower Resources announces Cameroon update: Receipt of extension document from MINMIDT
AIM-listed Tower Resources has received formal documentation from the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Technological Development ('MINMIDT') of the extension to the initial exploration period for its Thali license in Cameroon. The next steps are intended to be the formal approval by MINMIDT and subsequent completion of the previously announced farm-out of a 42.5% interest in the Thali license to Prime Global Energies. -

The seven OPEC+ countries, which previously announced additional voluntary adjustments in April and November 2023, namely Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria, and Oman met virtually on 4 October 2026, to review global market conditions and outlook. The seven participating countries decided to maintain September 2026 required production for November 2026. -

UK: Greenpeace threatens legal action against Crown Estate over ‘extortionate’ fees for offshore wind farm in Irish Sea
Greenpeace UK has written to the Crown Estate threatening legal action over the way it leases plots on the seabed to offshore wind developers. The environmental group said the bidding process leads to developers paying ‘extortionate’ fees for plots on which to build new wind farms, and that the Crown Estate is exploiting its monopoly of the seabed. -

Germany: Ocean Breeze Energy acquires the alpha ventus offshore wind farm
EWE, RWE and Vattenfall are selling their shares in the alpha ventus offshore wind farm to Ocean Breeze Energy. The change of ownership opens the prospect of Germany’s first offshore wind farm, situated around 45 kms north of Borkum, continuing to operate beyond its originally planned lifespan. Commissioned in 2010, the wind farm pioneered German offshore wind energy. -

UK: Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners announces EUR 270 million investment in new Scottish battery storage project
Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), through its fourth flagship fund, Copenhagen Infrastructure IV (CI IV), has taken Financial Investment Decision (FID) for Kilmarnock South, a 350 MW / 1,400 MWh lithium-ion battery energy storage system (BESS) located in south Ayrshire, southern Scotland. Construction is now underway with commercial operations expected in the first quarter of 2028. -
