Energy trade body reveals line-up for vital conference during ‘critical juncture’ for industry
The trade body for the offshore energy industry has today announced speakers for the OEUK Conference 2024, which will focus on the UK’s energy future in the wake of the General Election.
Speakers from Cerulean Winds, the Net Zero Technology Centre, and Aberdeenshire Council are among the line-up for the event, set to discuss how energy policy implemented by the new UK Government could unlock a ‘thriving business environment’ for the sector.
The trade body hopes the conference, supported by principal sponsor bp and supporting sponsor Baker Hughes, can provide a platform to discuss what conditions will be needed to ensure a skilled, stable, and secure energy future.
Doris Reiter, bp’s senior vice president, North Sea, will deliver the keynote speech at the event which will be held at the P&J Live in Aberdeen on September 17.
Speaking ahead of the event, OEUK CEO David Whitehouse said:
'The energy transition will be the biggest engineering project this country has ever seen, and if done correctly, has the potential to deliver the economic growth the UK needs while driving the country towards net zero.
'The energy policy brought in by Labour could alter the trajectory of the UK’s energy future. We are at a critical juncture, and government must work with the UK energy sector to unlock a thriving business environment.
'Our conference will provide a platform for the industry to make a clear case for prioritising a homegrown energy transition over an imported one. The best path to achieving that is through supporting UK companies and people today so that we have a healthy project pipeline to meet our needs tomorrow.
