Carbon capture and storage (CCS) will play a key role in mitigating climate change worldwide as well as in Europe. Denmark is leading the way and assuming a pioneering role among European countries with Project Greensand, as the first storage of CO2 in a reservoir in the Danish North Sea has now been initiated.

Denmark: Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners acquires Envo Biogas project in Denmark
Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners has – through its CI Advanced Bioenergy Fund I (CI ABF I) – acquired the biogas project Envo Biogas in Tønder, Denmark from Anaergia, a company based in Canada that develops large-scale facilities that convert organic waste to renewable fuels and electricity.

Demark: Wintershall Dea awarded CO2 storage licence in the Danish North Sea
On the recommendation of the Danish Energy Agency, the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities has granted the first CO2 storage licence in the Danish North Sea to Wintershall Dea and INEOS for Project Greensand, each of which will have a 40 per cent share. The remaining 20 per cent will be held by the state-owned company Nordsøfonden, which represents the interests of the Danish state.
