Energy and marine consultancy ABL has been awarded a contract by OWP Gennaker to provide marine warranty survey and marine assurance services to support the safe and efficient construction of the Gennaker offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.
The Gennaker offshore wind farm is set to become the largest offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea. Located approximately 15 kms off the German coast, the Gennaker wind farm will have an nstalled capacity of around 976 MW and feature 63 high-capacity wind turbine generators.
The combination of large-capacity wind turbine generators and construction activities taking place within Germany’s 12-nautical-mile zone significantly increases the project’s marine risk. In addition to complex offshore lifting and installation activities, the project presents navigational and coastal challenges, requiring careful assurance planning and execution in a busy maritime environment.

ABL’s German operations, based in Hamburg, will lead the project, drawing on the expertise of the company’s regional renewables team and its extensive offshore wind experience across the Baltic Sea. The team will deliver independent marine warranty survey (MWS) and marine assurance services, including the technical review and approval of project documentation, marine suitability and HSE inspections of the proposed fleet, and on-site attendance to witness and approve warranted marine operations in accordance with approved procedures.
