Wiesbaden-based project developer ABO Energy is expanding its cooperation with electricity producer Encavis. The Hamburg-based company already operates five wind farms developed and built by ABO Energy. ABO Energy has now sold its sixth project, the Schierenberg wind farm in Brandenburg, to Encavis and signed a cooperation agreement for four additional wind farms.

In addition to Schierenberg (8 x Vestas V150, 6 megawatts each), the cooperation portfolio includes two wind farms in North Rhine-Westphalia (4 x Nordex N149, 5.7 megawatts each, and 2 x Vestas V162, 6 megawatts each, repowering), one wind farm in Rhineland-Palatinate (2 x Nordex N149, 5.7 megawatts each) and one wind farm in Saarland (2 x Vestas V162, 6 megawatts each, repowering). The portfolio thus has a total capacity of 106.2 megawatts.

The projects are all currently under construction. The wind farms are scheduled to go into operation between autumn 2026 and spring 2027 and will generate approximately 300,000 megawatt hours of clean electricity annually. This corresponds to the consumption of almost 180,000 people and will avoid the emission of about 225,000 tonnes of CO2 annually. ABO Energy will ensure the long-term success of the wind farms by taking over their technical and commercial operational management. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. The transaction was advised on the buyer's side by the law firm CMS.

'Our company has already sold five projects to Encavis, and the partners work very well together in a spirit of trust,' says Sebastian Sprengart, Head of Financing and Sales at ABO Energy. 'That's why we are particularly pleased to have now concluded a cooperation agreement for a portfolio of five additional wind farms. Long-term partnerships between developers and investors make the complex sales process much easier and smoother.'

'With the Schierenberg wind project, we are consistently continuing our successful partnership with ABO Energy. The fact that we are now implementing five additional projects together highlights the strategic importance of this collaboration for expanding our wind portfolio in Germany. With currently around 800 MW of installed wind capacity in Germany, we are sending a strong signal for the energy transition and sustainable power supply,' says Mario Schirru, CEO of Encavis.

ABO Energy is heading for another record year in wind energy in Germany. In the Federal Network Agency's wind energy tenders, ABO Energy has been awarded contracts for projects totalling 120 megawatts. To date, ABO Energy has obtained permits for around 330 megawatts in 2025 and submitted permit applications for just under one gigawatt.
