Exus continues to drive the expansion of its business by building a solid platform in Germany

Leading global energy solutions providerExus Renewables, has entered into an agreement with Deutsche WindXperts (DWXP), a German onshore wind developer, to acquire a 69MW wind portfolio comprising four wind farms under development, located in the state of North Rhine–Westphalia, Germany.

The portfolio, which has the potential for capacity expansion, represents a strategically significant step for the company as it continues to grow its presence and asset base across key European renewable energy markets, broadening exposure to core jurisdictions with long-term decarbonisation commitments.

The acquisition marks Exus’ first owned wind project in Germany, following several years delivering third-party asset management services, addressing the needs of existing power generators and industrial electricity consumers. The company has set out further plans to expand its delivery of industrial energy solutions, including digital infrastructure.

Construction is scheduled to commence in 2026, with commercial operation anticipated in 2028, contributing to regional renewable energy supply, and supporting Germany’s overarching energy transition programme.

Serving as the anchor project for Exus Renewables in Germany, the acquisition coincides with the establishment of a permanent and dedicated local team and operational platform, spearheaded by Martin Amelang, who was recently announced as Country Manager.

The portfolio’s location in North Rhine–Westphalia – Germany’s most populous state and one of its key industrial centres – underscores its strategic relevance. The region plays a crucial role in the national energy landscape, with significant demand from manufacturing and industrial enterprises committed to reducing their carbon footprint.

Commenting on the announcement, Aygen Yayikoglu, CBDO at Exus Renewables, said: 'The Westphalia project marks a pivotal moment for Exus as we establish our investment footprint in Germany, the largest energy market in Europe. It reflects our long-term commitment to becoming a pan-European player, active in a rapidly evolving energy and digital infrastructure space. We look forward to building strong local partnerships and playing an active role in supporting Germany’s energy transition in the years ahead.'

Mr Lars Behrends, co-founder of DWXP, added: 'We are very pleased to reach a successful sale of our wind portfolio, and look forward to continuing our excellent collaboration with Exus on the construction of the Westphalia portfolio as well as other opportunities.'

During this process, Exus Renewables was advised by Noerr and Allegro Finance, while Deutsche WindXperts relied on BME and Capcora for advisory support.
