Exus Renewables, a premier independent power producer and asset management firm specialising in the renewable energy sector, has announced the acquisition of a 51-megawatt wind farm located in the north of Spain, from independent Spanish company Grupo Enhol, whose main work centres on the renewable energy sector. PwC and Garrigues law firm acted as sell-side advisors to Grupo Enhol, whereas Uría Menéndez law firm advised Exus.

This acquisition represents another notable addition to Exus' growing portfolio of renewable energy assets in Europe. The wind farm, currently in RtB (ready to build) status, is expected to achieve Commercial Operation Date (COD) in the third quarter of 2025. With its strategic location and favourable wind conditions, this project is poised to deliver a substantial contribution to renewable energy capacity in the region.

The agreement marks the initial step in a broader Exus strategy to firmly establish its footprint in the region’s renewable energy sector. This approach acknowledges the significance of cultivating long-lasting relationships with partners such as Enhol and local communities.

Enhol’s substantial sponsorship ofinitiatives in Navarra serves as a prime example of the vital connection between renewable energy advancement and local backing. Exus remains committed to providing an unwavering and supportive presence, actively contributing to the well-being and enduring viability of the neighbouring communities.

Exus was drawn to the immense potential of the wind farm and is committed to maximising its value through innovative and forward-thinking approaches. Significant upsides on the project include the potential for PV hybridisation, co-located battery storage, and advanced energy management solutions, drawing on the breadth of the combined Exus team’s expertise, and working collaboratively to optimise performance and drive sustainable growth.

Víctor López, head of M&A, at Exus Renewables, said: 'This acquisition marks another milestone in Exus' transitionto an independent power producer, further solidifying our position as a leading player in the renewable energy sector. As we continue to expand our portfolio and embrace new opportunities, Exus remains dedicated to delivering clean, reliable energy solutions that contribute to a more sustainable future.'

Roberto Sabalza, Energy & Service Division CEO at Grupo Enhol, added: 'We are delighted to work together with Exus on this transaction. Together, we see the great potential of this project, and our agreement with Exus represents a significant step forward in their advancement of renewable energy initiatives in the region.'
