Vestas has secured a firm order with SR Energy in Sweden for the newly launched V182-7.2 MW turbine, marking the first order globally for the turbine only a day after its official launch to the market. The order highlights that the V182-7.2 MW is ready for the market and demonstrates strong market interest in the latest evolution of the EnVentus platform, designed to increase energy production and strengthen business case certainty for customers.
The order is for the 29 MW Staverhult project and includes supply, delivery, and commissioning of four V182-7.2 MW turbines as well as a 35-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement designed to ensure optimised performance throughout the lifetime of the project.
Peter Zachrisson, CEO, SR Energy: “We are delighted to take the next step and begin construction of the Staverhult wind farm. By investing in Vestas’ latest generation of efficient wind turbine technology, we can make the most of the excellent wind conditions and deliver more renewable electricity where it is needed most. Staverhult is exactly the kind of project we want to develop - a long-term investment that strengthens electricity supply in southern Sweden and contributes to a more robust and competitive energy system.”
Jens Kück, Senior Vice President for Sales in Vestas Northern and Central Europe: "We are proud to secure the first order for our newly launched V182-7.2 MW turbine with our valued partners in SR Energy. This milestone underlines that our new turbine is ready for the market and it demonstrates that when the right technology is matched with the right business case, projects can move forward even in challenging market conditions. By combining enhanced energy production and the certainty of a proven platform, the V182-7.2 MW helps improve project economics and unlock investment opportunities, supporting the next phase of wind energy growth in Sweden".
By leveraging the proven EnVentus platform and upgrading only what creates meaningful customer value, the V182-7.2 MW is now ready for customers’ project planning and Vestas is able to ramp up serial production from end of 2027.
Turbine delivery is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2028, with commissioning scheduled for the third quarter of 2028. Once commissioned, the project will help meet Sweden's growing demand for affordable, secure, and sustainable energy.
