Energy industry leaders and media are being invited to Offshore Energies UK’s Business Breakfast on Tuesday, March 26 at the P&J Live in Aberdeen. Sponsored by Deloitte, the event will launch OEUK’s Business Outlook 2024: Activity & Supply Chain report.

OEUK’s data show that in this decade alone, the sector could invest £200 billion in wind, hydrogen, carbon capture and storage, as well as new oil and gas projects. This year’s report will warn that businesses now need to see a fair rate of return and supportive policy from governments to invest in these solutions.

UK energy production is declining faster than the rate of consumption – making the nation more reliant on imports. To manage that reliance, and to build a homegrown energy transition, more investment for UK energy projects needs to progress in the next 2-3 years.

The event will provide a platform to discuss how to unlock this multi-billion-pound opportunity and ensure policymakers choose a homegrown energy transition over an imported one.

Speakers:

  • Chaired by Katy Heidenreich, Supply Chain & People Director, Offshore Energies UK
  • Welcome address: Dave Whitehouse, CEO, Offshore Energies UK
  • Business Outlook report findings: Ross Dornan, Market Intelligence Manager, Offshore Energies UK

Panel:

  • Sayma Cox, Chief Executive Officer, North Sea Midstream Partners
  • Rob Fox, Managing Director Europe, SLB
  • Neil McCulloch, Chief Executive Officer, Spirit Energy
  • Walter Thain, Chief Executive Officer, THREE60 Energy
  • Peter Haughie, Procurement Associate Director, Ocean Winds

Ross Dornan, OEUK’s Market Intelligence Manager, said: 'The call for prioritising homegrown energy couldn’t be more timely. It’s imperative that our political leaders recognise its potential to drive sustainable growth and secure our energy needs.

'This event offers invaluable insights and opportunities for collaboration – paving the way for a brighter, more resilient energy landscape.

'Skilled jobs, secure energy, a sustainable future, and a sustainable journey too – that is the business opportunity this sector represents.

'In this election year, we must choose a homegrown energy transition to unleash our potential and power our future. We look forward to welcoming our esteemed speakers and uncovering new pathways for progress.'

Shaun Reynolds, Energy Transaction Services Partner for Deloitte in Aberdeen, said: 'We are very pleased to continue our support of OEUK’s business breakfast events again this year.

'These events play a vital role in uniting, steering, and influencing the industry’s future, and ensure vital conversations around meeting net zero targets take place.

'I’m sure this year’s events will make for interesting discussion on how to meet the UK’s energy requirements and deliver the technologies that are essential to transition to net zero.'

The report launch will be followed by report roadshows in London, Durham, and Lowestoft. The speakers and information for these events can be found here.

Free media passes are available for this event and report launch. Please email media@oeuk.org.uk to book your place.
