Clean energy is playing an increasingly important role in supporting the UK’s energy system, helping to deliver reliable power, strengthen energy security and reduce carbon emissions. Berden Solar Farm is part of that progress, bringing forward new renewable generation at a time when it is needed most.

British Solar Renewables (BSR) has acquired Berden Solar Farm, a consented, ready-to-build solar project located near Bishop’s Stortford in Essex.

The project is a 56MWp ground-mounted solar development, situated on approximately 177 acres of land. Once operational, Berden Solar Farm is expected to generate around 60GWh of clean electricity each year, contributing to the UK’s renewable energy supply while continuing to support agricultural use of the land.

Berden Solar Farm has been awarded a 20-year Contract for Difference in Allocation Round 7, providing long-term revenue certainty and reinforcing the strength of the project. With a grid connection secured for 2027, the site is well positioned to move into construction and play a near-term role in expanding the UK’s clean energy infrastructure.

The acquisition strengthens BSR’s growing portfolio, which now includes around 610MWp of installed capacity, and reflects our continued focus on delivering high-quality renewable energy projects that are ready to build and operate over the long term.

BSR will take the project forward through construction and into operation, with further updates to be shared as development progresses.

Tim Humpage, Chief Executive Officer at British Solar Renewables, said: 'We’re delighted to welcome Berden Solar Farm into the BSR portfolio. It’s a high-quality, consented project that aligns strongly with our focus on delivering renewable energy infrastructure capable of making a meaningful contribution to the UK’s clean energy goals.'
