Digital technology can move at extraordinary speed - but without the right data, skills, partnerships and business focus, even the most talked-about innovations can fall short of their potential.

That’s the challenge OEUK will tackle at its Data & Digital Conference, taking place on Tuesday 29 September at Union Kirk, Aberdeen, where the theme is Rapid Digital Evolution: Whatever Happened to Blockchain?

From blockchain to artificial intelligence, some digital technologies arrive with claims that they could transform whole industries overnight and some have reshaped the way businesses operate. Others have evolved into more targeted tools after the initial hype faded. For offshore energy companies, the lesson is clear: digital change delivers value when it is grounded in quality data, strong cyber resilience, practical adoption and clear business need.

OEUK’s annual conference will cut through the hype around fast-moving technologies and focus on how data and digital innovation can improve performance, strengthen resilience, support better decision-making and help companies unlock value across the UK offshore energy sector. It has supporting sponsorship from Lighthouse and MODS.

The one-day event includes sessions on how data quality can improve operational efficiency plus findings from Deloitte’s latest research on how the UK workforce is using Generative AI.

Aimed at leaders, technical specialists and decision-makers from across the offshore energy sector, the programme features expert presentations, live debate, panel discussions and an exhibition. Attendees will also hear the results of the Inform Prize, a computer showcase for students in Scotland designed to connect computer science academia with industry professionals.

Laure Mora, Business Transformation & Growth Manager at OEUK, said: 'Digital technologies are evolving faster than ever, but speed alone does not guarantee success. We have seen technologies move from breakthrough promise to practical application, and sometimes to disappointment, when organisations have not had the right foundations in place.

'This conference is about helping companies understand what is real, what is useful and what will make a difference. It brings together people who are using data, digital tools, cyber expertise and artificial intelligence to solve practical challenges across offshore energy.'

Delegates will hear from organisations including MODS, Wood, Adura, Baringa, Ab Initio, Deloitte, Recorded Future, H&P, Capgemini Invent, TCS, NEO NEXT+, bp, Serica Energy and TAQA, with sessions designed to offer practical insight and real-world lessons for companies at different stages of their digital journey.

The conference will also create opportunities for attendees to connect with their peers, exhibitors and digital specialists, share experience and explore partnerships that can help turn emerging technologies into practical business advantage.
