The Five Estuaries Offshore Wind Farm application has today been granted development consent by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.
This marks a major step forward in our commitment to delivering clean, renewable energy to the UK, while supporting local communities and creating jobs.
Located off the north Essex / south Suffolk coast, Five Estuaries will build on the legacy of the nearby Galloper Wind Farm and will:
- Generate enough clean electricity to power hundreds of thousands of UK homes annually
- Help reduce the UK’s reliance on fossil fuels and lower carbon emissions
- Create significant opportunities for local supply chains, skills development, and job creation
- Support long-term investment in the East of England region
We are incredibly grateful to all stakeholder organisations and communities that we have engaged with over the past five years as we have developed the project. We would like to take this opportunity to thank those who have helped us to refine and adapt the proposals to create the best possible project for this site, for the community and the environment.
