GE Vernova has signed an agreement* with ESB (Electricity Supply Board) to supply 16 units of its 6.1 MW-158m** onshore wind turbines for the 96 MW Chleansaid Wind Farm in the Scottish Highlands. The deal, which features a 20-year services agreement, uses turbines manufactured in Germany. With more than 1,800 turbines deployed across a wide range of applications and over 38 million operating hours, GE Vernova’s 6 MW products deliver versatility, dependability, and reliable lifetime performance.
All the turbines at this project will use GE Vernova’s proven split-blade technology that allows logistically challenging projects to unlock the advantages of a larger rotor and greater energy production. This technology facilitates the transport of larger blades to challenging, remote locations, ensuring maximum efficiency and energy capture.
This project reinforces the long-standing strategic relationship between GE Vernova and ESB, further supporting the UK’s goal of decarbonizing the power grid and expanding renewable capacity in Scotland. GE Vernova has also provided equipment for ESB through its Power and Electrification segments.
