Great British Energy has reaffirmed its promise to create jobs in Aberdeen following newspaper reports that more than a third of its workforce lives outside Scotland.
The firm said it is still building its Granite City operation after figures published in The Times today show it currently employs 132 people, including 53 permanent workers, 31 short-term staff and 48 people on secondment.
Of those, 46 live in England, Wales or Northern Ireland, including six permanent employees, five contingent workers and 35 staff on secondment.
The company was launched with its headquarters in Aberdeen amid claims that 1,000 jobs could eventually be created there, although outgoing chairman Jürgen Maier later said it could take 20 years to reach that figure.
A Great British Energy spokesman said: 'We expect to employ around 300 people over the next few years with the significant majority based in our Aberdeen HQ. GBE is already on the way to creating and supporting thousands of jobs across the country through our activities and investments.'
