'Proudly Resilient' is the theme for the 2025 Offshore Decommissioning Conference on November 24-26 hosted by Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) at the Fairmont Hotel, St Andrews with support from principal sponsor, Kent.

The conference will focus on the sector’s actions to boost its resilience amid rising costs, fiscal challenges, and declining oil and gas production. With supporting sponsorship from Claxton and TAQA, the event features a range of topics including heavy lift technology with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers championing its commitment to innovation in a Mechanical Wonders session.

Ricky Thomson, OEUK’s decommissioning manager said:

'Our ability to handle the growth of decommissioning activity that’s occurred in a challenging year demonstrates not only our sector’s commitment to innovation and technical excellence, but also our capacity to deliver projects to the highest standards in a demanding market. The significant investment in decommissioning reflects how our collaborative commercial models and campaign approach are driving greater efficiency and setting new benchmarks for project delivery. We look forward to highlighting how the sector is overcoming hurdles and identifying opportunities to achieve progress in the OEUK Decommissioning Insight report which we will launch at the conference.'

John Gilley, CEO at Kent:

'Few parts of our industry bring together so much skill, experience, and determination as decommissioning. It’s a complex task that demands innovation, collaboration, and the confidence to adapt as the landscape shifts. This phase of the basin’s life is as important as its first; it’s about doing the job safely, responsibly, and with pride in the standards we set. The OEUK Decommissioning Conference is a chance for us to come together, share what we’ve learned, and keep raising the bar for the future.'

The conference agenda comprises interactive workshop sessions, panel discussions and in-depth presentations with bookings selling out fast. Themes include:

  • The good, the bad and the collaborative
  • Launch of OEUK’s 2025 Decommissioning report
  • Red tape, green light: navigating regulations
  • Collaboration in action
  • Global standards: international frameworks and evidence-led decision making
