NECCUS and Offshore Energies UK have announced the launch of Project Anemone – exploring opportunities for organisations to work in a symbiotic way on co-located offshore energy transition developments.
The UK Continental Shelf seabed faces increasing and complex demands from different users sharing the space including offshore wind, CO2 storage, and oil and gas projects. Project Anemone will address these challenges and opportunities for co-location, aiming to develop practical guidelines and outline next steps for shared offshore energy activities.
Phase 1 of the project is sponsored by The Crown Estate and Crown Estate Scotland as part of the Offshore Wind and CCUS Co-Location Forum workstream Best practice for simultaneous operations.
The work will include a series of interviews and workshops with key stakeholders – including regulators, seabed owners, government, trade associations – as well as with offshore project developers and operators.
We will be getting in touch with developers and operators during September to set up workshops and meetings in mid-October.
