OEUK’s Head of Policy, Enrique Cornejo, said:
'It’s great to see the National Wealth Fund investing £28.6 million in new carbon dioxide pipelines to link cement and lime producers in the Peak cluster to the Morecambe Net Zero carbon storage site.
'By repurposing Morecambe’s gas fields into a major carbon store, this project shows how oil and gas infrastructure can help cut emissions from manufacturing, protect jobs, and unlock new markets for low carbon products.
'Today’s announcement is a positive signal for post-Track CCS projects, which urgently require a new policy framework to bring them to market.'
