Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) will bring together more than 150 legal and commercial professionals from across the UK offshore energy sector for its annual Legal Conference and Dinner at Ardoe House Hotel, Aberdeen, on Thursday 24 September 2026.

With principal sponsorship from Pinsent Masons, the flagship event puts the spotlight on the legal and regulatory challenges shaping offshore energy. The agenda ranges from climate-related litigation and the impact of political uncertainty on policy to sanctions, managing contract disputes, intellectual property and decommissioning.

In a joint presentation entitled Political and Policy Risk – UK Outlook, Dr Mark McClelland, OEUK’s Acting Corporate Affairs Director, will offer insight into how the shifting political outlook could affect investment decisions and regulatory expectations. He will be joined by Andrew Henderson, Director of Policy at Pinsent Masons, who will provide expert analysis of the evolving policy and political landscape and what it means for organisations operating and investing in UK offshore energy.

Recent climate litigation and judicial review will be a key focus, with Jackie Harris, Partner at Pinsent Masons, examining developments relevant to the UK North Sea and what emerging case law could mean for operators, investors and supply chain companies seeking to manage legal exposure.

The conference will explore practical legal issues affecting day-to-day business, including offshore charter disputes, sanctions and export controls. In the technology session, experts will explore emerging regulatory, contractual and operational challenges around cyber reporting, system integration, data governance, software ownership, sovereignty, transaction readiness, and the secure adoption of AI technologies.

Delegates will also benefit from attending practical toolkit sessions aimed at addressing legal uncertainty, protect commercial interests and supporting responsible innovation across the offshore energy lifecycle, from exploration and production through to decommissioning and new low-carbon technologies.

Tracey Keith, OEUK’s Legal Manager, said: 'The offshore energy sector is operating in a complex legal, political and commercial environment. This conference will help legal and commercial teams understand the direction of travel, assess risk and share expertise on the issues that matter most to businesses investing in the UK’s offshore energy future.'

Recognised as a must-attend event for the offshore energy legal and commercial community, the OEUK Legal Conference and Dinner offer professional development, sector-specific insight and valuable networking at a time of heightened legal and regulatory change.
