The Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero has granted a Development Consent Order (DCO) for One Earth Solar Farm.
Developed through the successful partnership between PS Renewables and Perigus Energy, One Earth Solar Farm will make a major contribution to the UK’s 2030 clean energy goal. Overall, it is expected to avoid 2.1 million tonnes of CO2 emissions and generate enough clean electricity to meet the needs of 200,000 homes every year.
One Earth is the third solar Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP) brought forward by PS Renewables to secure a DCO, demonstrating our proven ability to originate, develop and consent nationally significant renewable energy infrastructure. It is part of one of the largest pipelines of nationally significant solar farms in the UK.
Matt Hazell, co-owner of PS Renewables, said: ‘We are very pleased to achieve this important milestone for One Earth and want to thank everyone who took part in the examination process over the last year. It is crucial for the UK that large renewables projects such as One Earth can be progressed as quickly as possible whilst also ensuring they are properly scrutinised.
‘Securing a third DCO for a solar farm confirms PS Renewables’ position as one of the largest renewable energy development and construction companies in the UK. Building effective partnerships is a hallmark of our approach: we are grateful to our JV partners at Perigus Energy for their ongoing collaboration.’
The DCO is a major milestone for the project. We will continue to work closely with our project partners, Perigus Energy, as One Earth progresses towards delivery and secures its route to market.
