Commenting on today’s speech by the Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch at the party’s annual conference in Birmingham, RenewableUK’s CEO Tara Singh said:
'Kemi Badenoch is right to highlight the fact that we need a wide range of energy sources, including renewables, to deliver cheap, clean power for billpayers, and to grow our economy. Technologies like offshore wind are creating new jobs all over the country, especially in coastal communities, revitalising ports which need fresh economic opportunities. Former oil and gas workers are bringing their valuable skills to the offshore wind sector where their expertise is highly sought after. The wind industry already employs 55,000 people, and that's set to double by 2030'.
