Commenting on the UK Government’s announcement on the Electricity Generator Levy, a ScottishPower spokesperson said:
'Doubling down on building renewables is the right plan of action – the less gas we use, the less exposed we are to volatile global prices. Projects like our East Anglia THREE offshore wind farm - the first turbine of which has been installed today - are actively shielding the UK from increasing prices.
'That’s why measures to get more energy infrastructure built quicker are welcomed, particularly to help prioritise repowering the UK’s oldest wind farms and avoid losing their vital capacity.'

All 285 blades for the project’s 14 MW turbines are being made in the UK at Siemens Gamesa’s Hull factory. Once complete, the 1.4 GW windfarm will generate enough clean electricity to power more than 1.3 million homes.
