United Infrastructure has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the UK Transmission and Distribution engineering business ('UK T&D') of John Wood Group.
This transaction marks United Infrastructure’s third major power sector acquisition this year, following the successful integrations of Jones and Glenelly Infrastructure Services. It represents a significant step forward in expanding the Company’s expertise across the entire power infrastructure value chain, with a move into transmission, a vital component of the UK’s national energy network.
Wood’s UK T&D business provides comprehensive power transmission and distribution solutions to Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) across the UK. Its work underpins the UK’s transition to a resilient, flexible, and low-carbon grid, helping modernise and reinforce critical national infrastructure.
With extensive expertise in feasibility studies, engineering, construction management, commissioning, and asset optimisation, the UK T&D team provides services to enhance grid stability, increase network capacity, and ensure reliable power delivery to homes and businesses nationwide. Its capabilities span substation upgrades, network reinforcement (overhead and underground), smart grid integration, and power flow optimisation.
These services enable DNOs to meet rising electrification demands, comply with evolving regulatory standards, and maintain safe, efficient, and future-ready networks.
Neil Armstrong, Chairman and CEO of United Infrastructure, said:
'The acquisition of Wood’s UK Transmission and Distribution business marks a significant milestone for United Infrastructure. It strengthens our expertise across the entire power value chain and reinforces our mission to drive the transition toward a sustainable, resilient energy future.
This addition brings exceptional technical capabilities and expanded geographic reach, positioning United Infrastructure to play an even greater role in supporting the UK’s energy transition. It perfectly aligns with our strategy to grow in critical national infrastructure and with our unwavering commitment to delivering excellence for our clients and the communities we serve.'
The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to complete on 31 December 2025.
