VPI,(1) a leading power company in the UK and Ireland, has awarded Worley an engineering services agreement (ESA) to support the Humber Zero Carbon Capture project. The project is anticipated to be one of the world’s largest carbon capture projects for a combined heat and power plant and is an important milestone for the UK’s transition to a net zero future. Once completed, the project is expected to capture up to 3.3 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per annum.
Under the ESA, Worley will provide engineering services for the EPC Development Phase for the Humber Zero Carbon Capture project. The ESA follows Worley’s successful completion of the front end engineering design study in 2023. The EPC Development Phase will prepare for the development, construction and delivery of retrofitted post-combustion carbon capture units to VPI’s 1.2 GW combined heat and power plant in Immingham.
Under the ESA, Worley will provide the services through Worley’s offices in London with support from Global Integrated Delivery (GID) teams in India. Worley categorizes this ESA as transitional work in accordance with Worley’s definition of sustainability-related work.(2)
The EPC phase is expected to follow completion of the EPC Development Phase, subject to regulatory approval and final investment decision.
