- 1.5GW offshore wind farm will be one of the largest in the UK, generating enough electricity to power 1.6 million homes
- Scope includes foundation Detailed Design for up to 100 monopiles, to be installed 33 miles off the Lincolnshire coast
- Contract award builds on Wood Thilsted’s successful FEED delivery for the project

Offshore wind engineering consultancy Wood Thilsted has been awarded the foundation Detailed Design contract for the Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind project, one of the UK’s largest planned offshore wind developments. The award follows Wood Thilsted’s successful completion of Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) activities earlier this year and sees the company continue its support through the next key phase of project delivery.
Under the contract, Wood Thilsted will undertake the Detailed Design of up to 100 monopile foundations, integrating expertise in site conditions, structural performance, constructability and environmental stewardship to support the efficient delivery of the project.
Developed by a consortium comprising TotalEnergies, Macquarie and Broadhelm Renewables, and Gulf Development, the project is estimated to generate approximately £2 billion of UK investment over its lifetime. Outer Dowsing will support thousands of skilled jobs during construction and hundreds more throughout more than three decades of operations, delivering lasting economic value to UK communities and supply chains.
Matthew Simms, Project Director at Wood Thilsted, said:
'Securing the Detailed Design scope reflects the strength of the collaboration we’ve built with the Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind team over the past two years. Having developed a deep understanding of the site and project requirements through FEED, we’re well positioned to help deliver foundation solutions that balance technical excellence, efficient execution and environmental stewardship.
As projects continue to scale in both size and complexity, effective foundation design relies on a holistic understanding of the site, subsurface conditions, structural requirements and installation constraints. Bringing these disciplines together within a single team, alongside the knowledge gained throughout project development, helps create more efficient and robust engineering solutions. We’re proud to be supporting the team at Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind as the project progresses towards construction and contributes to the next generation of UK offshore wind.'
This contract further reinforces Wood Thilsted’s role in delivering complex foundation and infrastructure solutions for the next generation of offshore wind projects, helping unlock reliable, affordable renewable energy at scale.
